‘Sensory wildlife garden’

The Phoenix Pre-School Centre, Bromley, 2008

This was an innovative project involving many different professionals, teachers, staff and children.

Karen Waine, Senior Teacher, wanted the outdoor space to be transformed onto a sensory garden.

Woody Albrow landscaped the garden, while I made six totem poles. Four poles represented a class in the pre-school: owl, badger, robin and rabbit. The other two were a sun totem pole covered with clay ladybirds, and a shiny steel moon with lights on! The totem poles also have sensors, and when activated, they play nursery rhymes and wildlife sounds. I also designed the wet pour for the garden.
